My diverse experience in the publishing industry makes me a uniquely qualified freelance editor. I’ve worked for literary presses such as Graywolf Press and Catapult, for a boutique literary agent, and literary publications such as Slice Magazine and Blue Mesa Review. My current position allows me to read a great deal of middle grade and YA level fiction and nonfiction, giving me special knowledge of sports titles for all age levels. I am a freelance critic with reviews appearing in Lambda Literary, Kenyon Review, and Boston Review.
I offer full-length manuscript critiques in all genres and have worked closely with clients and companies to provide in-depth feedback, from line edits to structural critique, on projects ranging from getting novels ready to send to agents to self-published poetry collections.
My minimum for a full manuscript critique is $600 which includes the following for up to 250 manuscript pages:
- a critique letter with largescale feedback
- line edits
- 30-minute Skype or phone call after I return your work to discuss and answer any questions you have about feedback
I also offer sensitivity reading for authors and publishers at a rate of $500 per manuscript for the following in adult and YA fiction and nonfiction:
- LGBTQIA themes
- Trans / Gender-Nonconforming characters
- Extremely conservative / Fundamentalist Christian upbringing
Sensitivity reads include identification of problematic passages and characterizations, potential fixes for those passages in line edits as well as a critique letter.
Payment for any service is split into two, equal payments with the first half being sent before I begin work and the second upon completion.
